With her age of 39, this may be her last opportunity to claim the Olympic gold. The athlete is optimistic she'll be successful in achieving top honours. Ross told NBC Boston that if they play their best, or even a good game her team could win a gold medal. In addition, I'm planning put my faith in a touch of good luck. Following high school, and for a few many years before hitting the sand as a pro Ross played for the USC Trojans as an collegiate. And her run in the Trojans' ranks was one to remember. In 2000, as a freshman the Trojans' performance earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman-of-the-Year honors. She also helped her Trojans get to the Final Four. During her sophomore year she experienced a devastating personal setback but managed to be a second All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. In 2003-04, Ross was named the best collegiate female volleyball player in America according to The Honda Sports Award. Ross was a major in international relations at USC. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter achieve the heights of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross suffered the loss of her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. Ross holds her mother very dearly. Also, Margie is an ongoing source of motivation for her at the beach as well as in everyday her daily life.
